We are a recreational league for girls of all skill levels, but with a special emphasis on the basics for beginners, ages 4 – 7th grade.

KYF® Cheer squads can be mixed ages, so that younger & older sisters, family, & friends may still cheer together for their player-brother’s team, keeping families united. Girls are allowed to cheer for any open squad in KYF® that they choose! They may join a squad to cheer with friends or family in a different school area or age division. Recruiting your family & friends to grow your squads is highly encouraged!

Registration runs February-July.   Click here to see current rate information. Uniforms are only guaranteed to arrive by the first game, if you register by June 30th. If you register July 1st or beyond,  you should not expect your custom-sewn uniform until the end of September. (When registering a cheerleader for a specific player’s team, make sure you not the team in the registration documents. Ages don’t matter *just for the cheerleaders* when it comes to divisions, cheerleaders may cheer in any football division, regardless of age.)

Families will be contacted by their new specific Cheer Coaches around mid-July. Some squads may also choose to begin conditioning in July, and regular squad practices begin the first week of August – they’re usually twice a week. Practice days/times/locations are at the discretion of each squad’s coach, making it much more conducive to what your individual family needs.  All of our coaches are willing to work with their families. Because all of our coaches are volunteer cheer moms, many of whom work full time, practices usually start between 5:30 & 6:30. Again, feel free to talk to your coach about any specific needs you have! *KYF® medical release forms and liability waivers are due at Cheer Camp.*

We host our 3-hour mini Cheer Camp for all KYF® cheerleaders on a Saturday at the beginning of practices, where everyone learns basic arm motions, jumps, several cheers, and dances together. It’s a great bonding day and gets everyone started out on the same footing! We have our Opening Ceremonies the following week or so in August, where all of the KYF® cheerleaders will get to do what we learned at Cheer Camp all together, as well. We cheer for nine weeks of football games on Saturdays (end of August – October) as our regular season, and our playoffs run in November. Every cheerleader, whether their football team makes it to the championship or not, gets to cheer at halftime of that final game (called the Turf Bowl, held at Legacy Stadium!) with her whole division. The girls get so excited to be on the huge jumbotron!

Continuing in 2025: we will have a Cheer Show Off Exhibition evening, where the squads will get to perform for their fellow squads and parents! This will be scheduled for November 2024!

Walk-Up Fitting Events: TBD. we are looking into in-person fitting options.
•7/1 – Late Registration rate goes into effect & uniforms will no longer be guaranteed to arrive by 1st regular season game.
•7/17 – Cheer Conditioning permitted to begin, if squad chooses

•8/1 – Individual Squad Practices may begin

•9/6 – First Regular Season Game (every Saturday through 10/25)

Our custom uniforms (skirt, top, & boyshort-style briefs) & two metallic poms + Cheer Camp and Tank Shirt/Shorts are all included in the registration fee as an add-on.  All the girls will wear the tank shirt/shorts to Cheer Camp & to perform at Opening Ceremonies and white cheer shoes, (no more than $20 at Academy.) We also offer the optional purchase of a black/pink glitter “KYF CHEER” jacket, which is approved to wear over the uniforms in cold, inclement weather. In the offseason, KYF® cheerleaders have the opportunity to still come together to participate in community events, such as marching in the Katy Rodeo Parade, performing in conjunction with NFL Play 60 events, and volunteering with Lunches of Love! We want to keep up our KYF® cheer spirit year-round!
